Should I do it now?
Beautiful commercials on television. Messages on my laptop saying that “It’s time to update your device“. Which has you thinking: Should I update to Windows 11?
Windows 11 is the latest version of the software that runs our laptop and desktop devices. It was released in June of 2021. Microsoft advertises many advances and improvements for computing if you use Windows 11. But like most new software there are changes in how the programs work and how you use your device. With any software update there is the potential for problems that could affect your use and enjoyment of your device. And the other software you use may not yet be compatible and not work correctly after installing Windows 11.
It’s the suggestion of the Northland Shepherd’s Center Technology Center it is better to wait on executing the update until there has been more time for Microsoft to work out the potential problems for Windows 11 and other software.
Your device may be sending you messages that you are eligible for the Windows 11 update. You can choose to delay the update. Read the message carefully and choose the option to wait. If you have questions don’t hesitate to contact the Technology Center.
You don’t have to worry about your Windows 10 not working. Microsoft has announced that they will continue to support Windows 10 until October 2025. That means that your Windows 10 device will continue to receive updates. And the Technology Center is here to help you with your device questions.
If you want to execute the update to Windows 11, but want some help contact the Technology Center and we would be glad to schedule a session for you to bring in your laptop and we can assist with the process.
If you have an older device it may not be eligible for the update to Windows 11. Windows 11 requires specific parts to be build into your device. With the Microsoft promise of support for the next four years there is little to worry about at this time.
